Being Washed

We welcome any help in defining our goals and ideas on how we can help these inmates that are lost in The System, hopelessly trapped because of a stained record that haunts them their entire rest of their lives; whether they were/are violent or non-violent, it doesn't matter, HERE. It doesn't matter if this is just time they have to do because of a parole or probation violation, and it doesn't even matter what the facts are in the case. Some Judges will be straight honest with you and tell you that the DA involved in the prosecution is out there to WIN, no matter what the factual evidence is in front of him. Even if he personally feels the defendant is innocent, he or she will then try to twist the evidence presented in such a way as to move the jury in a trial, to change their perception of factual information into one that is a false perception, one that is in favor of the prosecution's desire to WIN, to put this defendant and any co-defendants as well, in JAIL or PRISON, for the MAXIMUM amount of time that that crime permits under California Penal Code. You may have heard some people who have been to even just County jail complain about how the DA is "trying to wash [him/her]" - which is slang for stating that the DA is overlooking the facts and just going for the maximum punishment based on some sort of prejudice specifically against the defendant. "Getting washed" can mean when the DA seeks to add "strikes" against the defendant, which is a part of the 3-Strike Law that California has, which is one of the most strict and unfair in the entire Country. There is a reason that the entire State of California, as large as it is, has STILL build extra prisons in other States across the entire Country to accommodate the massive amount of inmates it has of its own population. As of now, there are FIVE (5) other States that house California inmates within their borders: Nevada, Arizona, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Kansas.
